With a designed capacity of 5 GWh per year and an automation level exceeding 90%, GG Power’s energy storage battery manufacturing plant stands as clear evidence that Vietnamese engineers and enterprises are fully capable of participating deeply in high-tech energy sectors.
Pioneering clean energy development
GG Power (GG Industry JSC), a 100% Vietnamese-owned enterprise, has officially introduced its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing plant at Industrial Park No. 5, Xuân Trúc, in Hưng Yên.
This milestone marks GG Power’s pioneering role in advancing clean energy and national energy self-reliance, gradually positioning Vietnam as a manufacturing hub for energy storage systems in Southeast Asia.
The GG Power plant spans a total area of 1.2 hectares and includes a modern two-story production complex along with a research and development (R&D) center, with a designed capacity of 5 GWh per year.
It is one of the first BESS plants in Vietnam to be systematically and professionally developed in line with international standards, featuring an automation level of over 90%, enabling strict quality control at every stage of production.
As a result, every product leaving the factory meets stringent requirements for safety, performance, and reliability, ready to serve both domestic and international markets at speed and at scale.
This complex focuses on providing comprehensive energy storage solutions across all market segments, including residential products for households, commercial and industrial (C&I) solutions, and utility-scale projects.
Having local manufacturing capabilities allows GG Power to secure supply autonomy, shorten delivery times, and optimize solutions based on the operational characteristics of different customer groups in Vietnam.
The plant’s technological foundation is built on an official technology transfer partnership with Goldwind—a leading global provider of clean energy, energy storage, and wind power solutions, with a presence in more than 30 countries and major projects across the United States, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
GG Power receives this technology through a licensing model, enabling full mastery of its R&D processes. The strategic partnership also includes long-term technical support, advanced engineering training, and continuous updates on operation and maintenance technologies.
On this foundation, GG Power has collaborated with partners to develop and successfully optimize its Energy Management System (EMS) – the “brain” of the entire BESS ecosystem. The system is designed for high compatibility with Vietnam’s power grid, ensuring full operational autonomy while establishing a secure big data infrastructure stored domestically.
Speaking to Nhadautu.vn, Chairman and CEO Bùi Xuân Bình said the total investment in the plant is approximately VND 600 billion, implemented in two phases. He also noted that although there is interest from investors, the company’s leadership has decided to remain self-funded for the time being, and will only consider foreign investment once the market reaches “billion-dollar” scale.
Through its strategic cooperation with Goldwind, GG Power gains direct access to global technological standards, gradually strengthens its R&D capabilities, masters its systems, and proactively develops a domestic supply chain. This lays the foundation for the company to participate more deeply in regional and global energy value chains.
At the event, Mr. Bùi Xuân Bình emphasized that GG Power does not aim merely to manufacture equipment, but to master core technologies—from control systems to fully integrated solutions.
“We are investing heavily in R&D, developing internal standards, building manufacturing facilities, and expanding international partnerships. This is not an easy path—it requires time, resources, and determination—but it is a necessary direction for forming a new national energy industry. With BESS, Vietnam has every opportunity to become a future energy storage hub of Asia,” he stated confidently.
He also added that in the next phase, the company plans to expand supporting facilities to enhance production capacity and further complete its supply chain.
Confidence and determination
Sharing the origin of the idea, Chairman and CEO Bùi Xuân Bình recalled that GG Power began with a fundamental question: “Why has Vietnam not yet had a large-scale, international-standard BESS manufacturer?”
From that question, the company embarked on a journey that, in his words, is “the most difficult—but also the most promising and bright—path.”
According to him, this is not a path defined by having the greatest advantages, but one driven by belief, determination, and a young team that dares to think, dare to act, and dare to take on challenges.
After nearly one year of dedicated development, the leadership of GG Power could not hide their emotion at the initial achievements.
“The factory today is not just a physical project. It is the foundation for Vietnam’s energy storage industry and a statement: Vietnamese people do not only adopt technology—they are fully capable of mastering it, developing it, and working with international partners to create better, more optimized technologies for the domestic market,” said Chairman and CEO Bùi Xuân Bình proudly.
The launch event of the GG Power battery storage plant marks the starting point of a new journey that has been carefully prepared over more than a year. It is also a commitment—that the company will go all the way in building a “Make in Vietnam” energy storage industry – Mr. Bùi Xuân Bình, Chairman and CEO of GG Power.
He also added: “There are still many challenges ahead, but we believe the greatest opportunities always belong to those who dare to go first and go all the way.”
At the inauguration ceremony of the BESS manufacturing plant, representatives of GG Power stated frankly that the company does not pursue the lowest-cost solutions, but prioritizes long-term value and the highest level of reliability.
“We do not simply sell products; we are committed to accompanying our customers in addressing energy challenges in a comprehensive and responsible manner. If today marks our official launch, then from tomorrow onward, we must prove that we are worthy of our customers’ trust,” the company leadership affirmed.
Congratulating GG Power on completing the construction of the plant in less than one year, Vice Chairman of the Hưng Yên People’s Committee Lê Quang Hòa emphasized: “Today’s ceremony shows that the factory is ready to begin operations. This is a very positive signal. BESS is an important product, aligned with Hưng Yên’s development orientation toward 2030, with a vision to 2045 of becoming a high-tech industrial province.”
