Vietnam now hosts a world-class BESS battery manufacturing facility built to international standards

On April 11, GG Power Group will mark a key milestone with the grand opening of its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Hung Yen Province.

Nhà máy GG Power có công suất thiết kế 5 GWh/năm là nhà máy đầu tiên tại Việt Nam tập trung vào lĩnh vực pin lưu trữ năng lượng.

With a designed capacity of 5 GWh annually, the GG Power plant is the first facility in Vietnam focused on energy storage battery manufacturing.

The GG Power plant, spanning 1.2 hectares and located in Industrial Park No. 5 (Xuan Truc Commune), has a designed capacity of 5 GWh per year. It is capable of manufacturing a full range of energy storage batteries for utility-scale, industrial, commercial, and residential applications.

As the first facility in Vietnam dedicated to energy storage battery production, the plant is equipped with advanced technology and modern manufacturing systems, meeting comprehensive international standards.

GG Power has also entered into a technology transfer agreement with Goldwind, one of the world’s leading providers of clean energy and wind power solutions.

Under this partnership, Goldwind will provide a complete transfer of BESS manufacturing technology, along with a production line designed for a 5 GWh annual capacity. This enables GG Power to deliver energy storage solutions across industrial, commercial, residential, and grid-scale applications.

The entry of GG Power into the market marks an important step toward localizing internationally standardized BESS manufacturing in Vietnam and gradually building a domestic energy storage supply chain.

BESS solutions offer five key advantages: reducing electricity costs, improving power quality, enhancing solar energy efficiency, replacing diesel generators, and integrating seamlessly with renewable energy systems.

The BESS manufacturing plant developed by GG Power spans 1.2 hectares and is located in Industrial Park No. 5, Xuan Truc, Hung Yen.

Mr. Bui Xuan Binh, Chairman and CEO of GG Power, emphasized that BESS is fundamentally a trust-driven industry. Rather than competing on low-cost products, GG Power is committed to delivering solutions that meet global standards.

“Our strategy is to position Vietnam not just as a buyer, but as a key player in the global green energy value chain,” he said.

According to Mr. Binh, in the initial phase, the company focused on commercial deployment to pilot projects, refine processes, and gain deeper insights into market dynamics and technology. At the same time, GG Power actively sought international partners with strong R&D capabilities and proven products, open to collaboration through licensing and technology transfer.

This approach enables the company to absorb advanced technologies, build internal capabilities, and gradually move toward full ownership—while continuously adapting and innovating to suit local market needs.

The global BESS market is expected to expand rapidly, with installed capacity projected to increase 15-fold by 2030. It is among the fastest-growing industries worldwide, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) estimated at 23–30%, and a market value expected to reach USD 120–150 billion by 2030.

Currently, the global BESS market remains largely dominated by a handful of technology leaders, including China, the United States, the European Union, South Korea, and Japan.
