On May 9, a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by Vice Minister Nguyen Hoang Long, conducted an inspection of several key power generation and grid infrastructure projects in Ninh Binh Province, including BESS energy storage projects located near the Nho Quan 500kV Substation and the Phu Ly 220kV Substation.
The inspection delegation included Mr. Nguyen Cao Son, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, along with representatives from the Departments of Industry and Trade, Construction, Finance, Agriculture and Environment; the Provincial Land Development Center; the Provincial People’s Committee Office; the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT); Ninh Binh Power Company; and local authorities from Nho Quan, Ly Thuong Kiet, and Kim Bang communes and wards.
During the site visit, Vice Minister Nguyen Hoang Long highlighted the growing demand for stable power supply, green energy, and peak-load support capacity in Ninh Binh. In this context, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are considered a critical solution for enhancing grid flexibility, supporting safe and stable grid operation, and improving overall system efficiency.
👉 The Ninh Binh centralized BESS project is expected to deploy a 500MW/2000MWh BESS system near the Nho Quan 500kV Substation with a 4-hour storage duration. In parallel, another BESS system with a capacity of 150MW/450MWh is planned near the Phu Ly 220kV Substation, featuring a 3-hour storage duration and the potential to expand to 5 hours depending on future load demand.
During the site inspection, Mr. Nguyen Cao Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized that the Nho Quan – Phu Ly – Thuong Tin 500kV transmission line is one of the nation’s key energy infrastructure projects. He also called on local authorities to closely coordinate with relevant stakeholders in selecting suitable BESS locations and accelerating site clearance efforts to facilitate the timely implementation of the projects.
