836 kWh BESS at EV Charging Station on Au Co, Hanoi

The rapid development of the electric vehicle (EV) market in Vietnam is driving strong demand for modern charging infrastructure. However, EV charging station investors face major challenges: peak load demand, high electricity costs, and increasing pressure to integrate clean energy.

To address these issues, the EV charging station at 4/464 Tay Ho, Hanoi partnered with GG Industries (GGI) to deploy an 836 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) – a pioneering solution that integrates EV fast charging with energy storage.

Challenges

  • Peak load demand when multiple vehicles charge simultaneously

  • High demand charges during peak hours

  • Requirement to increase renewable energy usage in line with green mobility trends

  • Grid stability concerns in dense urban areas

GGI’s Solution

GGI engineered and installed a BESS 836 kWh / 400 kW system, directly connected to the EV fast-charging station. The system features advanced liquid-cooling technology and complies with IEC, UN38.3, and GB/T36276 standards.
An intelligent Energy Management System (EMS) prioritizes energy discharge from the BESS during peak hours, significantly reducing electricity costs and easing pressure on the local grid. The system is also designed to integrate with rooftop solar in the future, enabling higher clean energy consumption.

Results

  • 20% peak load reduction, easing pressure on the local grid

  • 10% savings in electricity costs for charging station operations

  • 100% stable charging performance for electric vehicles

  • Increased clean energy utilization and reduced CO₂ emissions
